Opening

The mill is open from the beginning of April or Easter, if earlier, until the end of October, on weekends and Bank Holidays.

Heage Windmill is a popular local attraction

Visitors are taken on a guided tour around the mill. Visits take approximately 40 mins.

If there is enough wind the mill sails will be turning.

Please note that access to the upper parts of the mill is via steep stairs, although there is easy access around the mill with glorious views of Derbyshire countryside; also a computerised presentation is available and accessible to visitors with a tour ticket in the undercroft beneath the mill.

The windmill is owned by Derbyshire County Council, but all monies go to the Heage Windmill Society which is the charitable organisation whose Trustees have responsibility for the preservation of the mill.
