Opening

The mill is open from the beginning of April or Easter, if earlier, until the end of October, on weekends and Bank Holidays.

Visitors are taken on a guided tour around the mill. Visits take approximately 40 mins.

If there is enough wind the mill sails will be turning.

Please note that access to the upper parts of the mill is via steep stairs, although there is easy access around the mill with glorious views of Derbyshire countryside; also a computerised presentation is available and accessible to visitors with a tour ticket in the undercroft beneath the mill.

There is a small shop on site where you may buy tour tickets. Also on sale are

Seating is available outside. There are toilet facilities including a disabled toilet.

A family ticket admits 2 adults and up to 3 children.

Special Visits

We can happily arrange a special group visit, or you can give the unique experience of being "Miller for the Day" to a special person. Contact the mill for more details.

The windmill is owned by Derbyshire County Council, but all monies go to the Heage Windmill Society which is the charitable organisation whose Trustees have responsibility for the preservation of the mill.
